We design a new municipal centre in Hovorčovice

The village of Hovorčovice situated just outside of Prague has experienced rapid development and is therefore looking to establish a new municipal centre to provide a range of civic amenities. Our proposal for the new centre consists of two double-storey, interconnected buildings – one with the civic offices and the other with café and post office. Three entrances connect the buildings via an arcade which is arranged around an attractive courtyard that opens out towards the village church, creating a friendly public meeting space.

The volume and materiality of the building as well as its series of pitched roofs echoes the scale and form of the surrounding townscape, whilst also being sensitive to its heritage, including the adjacent church.
