Public disucssion on the future of Ostrava district
On the 19th January a live public discussion took place with residents, a representative of the Ostrava City District and fellow architects. We presented our proposals for the revitalization of the Poruba and Nový Pustkovec districts in Ostrava which seek to improve the long-term development of community life, improve traffic conditions and ensure a sustainable future for the city. The district of Poruba has an interesting architectural history and is known for its 1950’s socialist realism style urban planning, known in Czech as “sorela”. These areas in Poruba feature wide boulevards and monumental buildings which focus on symmetry and decoration including elements of architectural styles such as classicism.
